Destination Poland

Our tours are boutique this means no two are the same. We cater for groups of friends just wanting to experience something new together, or if you are travelling alone join me and a few new friends and I will introduce you to Poland. Below is a list of cities and towns on our tour travel agenda that we can visit. Poland has it all, the world is your oyster in 2023, why not try something new.

Warszawa, Poland

Meet me in Poland Tours will meet you in Warsaw or arrange to collect you from Warsaw’s Chopin Airport and drop you off at the hotel. Here you can settle in, and if you would like to venture out we would be only too happy to show you “Warszawa”. A short walk to the nearby old city (Rynek Starego Miasta) will give you an insight into what Poland has to offer, this area is home to the Royal Castle and is rich in restaurants cafes and shops.

Kazimierz Dolny

Our first destination is Krakow via Kazimierz Dolny. This quaint little town is known as an artist’s haven, here we will stop to enjoy the morning markets, visit the nearby ruins all the while drinking your coffee and eating paczki (Polish donuts). Remember that word because these delicious cakes can be found everywhere in Poland and it will become your staple . Next stop is the medieval town of Sandomeirz. Here you will visit the amazing Cathedral Basilica of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary a Gothic cathedral constructed in 1360. What make this special is the Blood Libel paintings or Death Paintings, strange but curious. In the afternoon we will keep driving south were we will stop at the Sandomierska Winery to go wine tasting (if we have time) before making our way to Krakow.

Krakow

Krakow offers visitors so many options, and so will we. One of my favourites is the Wieliczka Salt Mines, this is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This underground attraction will surprise you, it includes dozens of statues, an underground lake, four chapels and a full sized ballroom and a reception room that is actually still used for private functions, including weddings.   In this same area is one of our Poland’s up and coming vineyards. The Wieliczka Winery will offer us your first chance to taste their famous orange wine. Krakow’s square is world famous and during the summer packed with markets, traditional music concerts, the Cloth Hall a renaissance building in the middle of the square offers everything from cut crystal to amber. Every evening at 6pm the famous Cracowian trumpeter makes the square stand still , here you can just sit back and take in everything this beautiful city has to offer. Another option here is visiting Auschwitz, the German concentration camp.

Krakow - Zakopane

If by now you fancy some green pastures and mountain air then our next trip is for you. We head south for a day trip to the breath-taking Tatra Mountains where we will introduce you to the magical Zakopane. Nestled at the foot of the Tatra mountains here you can meet Poland’s highlanders who are known for their famous oscypek - a smoked and salted cheese. This is not the only delicacy from this region, their local sandwich is called Zapiekanka, you will need to skip breakfast to eat this street food, its huge! Take a cable car ride or walk the city streets to see its distinctive wooden houses with their large roofs and ornate fences, even the tombstones are made of wood. On our way back to Krakow we will visit the 14th century Dunajec Castle in the south eastern region of Nedzica, set against a backdrop of a beautiful lake it is definitely worth the visit if we can drag you away from Zakopane.

Krakow Old City

We spend three days in Krakow due to so many places to see in this wonderful city. Here we have a wonderful guide who is available to take you in a walking tour of Krakow’s old town. Krakow was left untouched by WWII so you are able to walk the city streets and feel its spectacular past and it wont disappoint. Visit the charming Old Jewish Quarter of Kazimierz where every street tells a story. Here you can sample true Polish Jewish cuisine, view the only surviving synagogue in Poland and visit the Schindler Factory. Another option is we can arrange for you to travel to the Auschwitz - Birkenau concentration camp. A preserved memorial to the 28 nationalities who perished there, a sombre day but for some it is on their list. That afternoon we will arrange a wine tasting at the Srebrna Gora vineyards on the hills of the beautiful Camaldolese Monastery. This was built in 1603 on Silver Mount. It is a closed order and where women are only allowed to visit 12 days per year, I cannot guarantee it will be open that day for us to visit but here you will enjoy the tranquility under an umbrella, sit back relax and be able to admire the grandeur of its architecture while trying their wines. Or we can offer you a trip around the vineyards on a bike with our local guide. There will be time to see everything we promise.

Wroclaw

Known for its market square and the colourful town houses, this Gothic town has much to offer its visitors. Set on a number of rivers its known as the Polish Venice. On the quirky side Wroclaw is known for its dwarf statues that are hidden around the city, up to 500 hide in the doorways and on street corners. This city will wow you, we will be busy.

Lodz

This city has an amazing vibe, a city reinvigorated by a focus on the arts, a diverse food scene and plenty of lively bars. It was once known as the centre of Europe’s textile industry, the old brick textile buildings have been converted into “Manufactura” a retail and leisure area and its quite impressive. It also houses museums and galleries celebrating different aspects of the city. Visit Izrael Poznanski Palace an extraordinary neo-baroque building that was the original textile magnate’s residence - it is gorgeous and remains virtually intact. That evening we head to “off Piotrkowska” here you will find boutique stores, food trucks and restaurants and courtyards with live music,. By the way Piotrkowska Street is the longest street in Europe, great for an evening stroll.

Torun

The medieval town of Torun who architecture shows the layers of its history, like all Polish towns its centres around the square which is laced with restaurants and churches. Known for its foodie culture and restaurant tours we will stop for lunch before driving up to the city of Gdansk the jewel of the Baltic.

The Baltic Coast Gdansk - Sopot - Gydnia

Known as the three Baltic sisters the cities of Gdansk, Gydnia and Sopot stand guard along the Polish coastline.

Basing ourselves in Gdansk we will visit all three, and even take the ferry across to the Hel Peninsula to lunch on fresh seafood and experience the Polish summer vibe. The old city of Gdansk offers visitors an opportunity to take in some shopping, art and design stores are everywhere from traditional polish pottery to the new ceramics and glassware Poland is now known for, amber is very popular here and is available everywhere, just something to remember it wards off headaches according to local residents. Evenings can be spent walking along the river bank and admiring the mixture of northern European architecture and the grandeur of what once was and still is.

We have scheduled in one day to visit Marlbork Castle, the largest of its kind in Europe. Built in the 13th century this fortified monastery belonging to the Teutonic Order is very impressive. It was designed with the first prototype of underfloor heating, bathrooms, toilets, drainage, it has draw bridges and romantic stories that wont disappoint. Completely destroyed by the Nazi’s in WWII it was rebuilt to the original design and it totally overwhelming in its design and size. Its a day trip but well worth it.

Returning to Warszawa

I will be staying in Warszawa so will be able to assist you with any on-going travel plans. This city offers visitors so much to see and do : the Polin Museum, Warszawa Uprising Museum, the Old City, Wilnow or Lazienka Park which is one of my favourites, summertime Chopin Concerts sitting in the park in a deck chair, art galleries the list is endless you will never be bored. This is only a snapshot of what you can do in this vibrant city. Let us help you design a holiday you will never forget.
