Warszawa my second home
Day 7 and the temperature continues to rise, today it will reach 34c, strangely this morning I received a text message “warning” me that I can expect thunderstorms and strong winds tonight should I be worried? It has been a week since I left Wellington and I am only now removing the plasters from my feet but still having to work on how to control my body temperature so I can feel fresh and fabulous I think its quite obvious I am a foreigner when I am out and about - I am the only one wearing a hat and sweating. I discovered on day one foundation is not even an option in this heat. My days start early thanks to jet lag, usually with a walk in the park, pick up a coffee and then I pop in to Hala Gwardii. Hala is a fresh food market, with authentic Polish food and located behind my apartment, so I just cant go past the watermelon and the cherry’s. My building is in the Scrodmiescie district, in the CBD area and has quite a history, its where the Warsaw Ghetto was set up. Prozna Street has the original building’s from that era which are currently being renovated . This street now is the home to some lovely restaurants, and on the other side of the square is the All Saints Church again being renovated, there are fountains, cafes and a few good wine shops, jewellery stores and a beautiful candle shop which I will visit once I stop sweating. All the time the infamous Palace of Culture stands guard over this area. One thing is if lost you just look up look for this almighty building and you know you are going in the right direction. I better head off its starting to heat up and I need to shop. Na razie.
