Krakow or Cracow

Cracow or Krakow (in Polish), I always knew it as Krakow but the world calls it Cracow, pronouncing it this way does not give it the status it deserves. One of the most recognisable of Poland cities, a dignified Gothic and Renaissance royal city that has it all. This was once the capital of Poland, supposedly it has magical powers, a holy stone one of seven mysterious energy sources placed in different locations around the world. The Cloth Hall (Sukiennice) is the centre piece of Krakow in the Main Market square, continues its tradition of trade, here you can buy Polish goods, gems, crystal and wooden items. My favourite is the cut coloured crystal it very hard deciding on which of these exquisite pieces you want to take home, my weakness are the perfume bottles. The wooden rolling pins another one of my favourites, with over hundred different designs this can take hours. Finish the day with an aperol spritz and wait for the trumpeter in the spires of the cathedral who at 6pm commands silence of everyone in the city. Summertime in Krakow is the best, bustling with people it hosts the International Street Theatre festival, and Jewish Cultural Festival bringing with it traditional polish music and dancing. Elaborate carriages allows visitors to sit back and watch the world go by. This city never sleeps, is one of Europe’s most attractive spots and it is what legends are made of.
